Two Worlds

Two minds living in two different worlds.
Two worlds that are felt,
that are seen in the eyes,
In the eyes of one boy and one girl.

Two worlds. Two people with two hearts.
They know their worlds are apart.
Two worlds with one wish under the sun,
One wish that two worlds will be one.

Two worlds. Two souls with one destiny.
Two loves that were meant to be.
Two paths intertwined into one road.
Someday, they’ll have each other to hold.

If you look close, I think you’ll find
That those two worlds are yours and hers.
And even though your worlds apart,
Your whole world is her heart

Note:  I found this is a old journal.  I wrote it during a time that I belong to an online hopelessly romantic chat room.  I was writing lots of stuff back then and very hopeful.  I wrote it to two friends of mine who were in love.  They lived far away from each other.  Love can cause miracles to happen.

Crabby Old Man

This just came in my email.. I had to share.

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in North Platte, Nebraska, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.

Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possesions, they found this poem.  Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.  One nurse took her copy to Missouri.

The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the St. Louis Association for Mental health.  A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent poem.

And this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet.

Crabby Old Man

What do you see nurses?   What do you see?
What are you thinking... when you're looking at me?
A crabby old man... not very wise,
Uncertain of habit...with faraway eyes?

Who dribbles his food...and makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice...`I do wish you'd try!'
Who seems not to notice...the things that you do.
And forever is losing...A sock or shoe?

Who, resisting or not...lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding...the long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking...is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse...you're not looking at me.

I'll tell you who I am...As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding...as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of Ten...with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters...who love one another.

A young boy of Sixteen...with wings on his feet.
Dreaming that soon now...a lover he'll meet.
A groom soon at Twenty...my heart gives a leap.
Remembering, the voices...that I promised to keep.

At Twenty-Five, now...I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide...And a secure happy home.
A man of Thirty...My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other...With ties that should last.

At Forty, my young sons...have grown and are gone.
But my woman's beside me...to see I don't mourn.
At Fifty, once more, babies play 'round my knee.
Again, we know children...My loved one and me.

Dark days are upon me...my wife is now dead.
I look at the future...shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing...young of their own.
And I think of the years...and the love that I've known.

I'm now an old man...and nature is cruel.
Tis jest to make old age...look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles...grace and vigor, depart.
There is now a stone...where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass...a young guy still dwells.
And now and again...my battered heart swells.
I remember the joys...I remember the pain.
And I'm loving and living...life over again.

I think of the years, all too few...gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact...that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people...open and see
Not a crabby old man...Look closer...see ME!!

Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within.  We will all, one day, be there, too!

Butt Prints in the Sand - Author Unknown

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared,
and I asked the Lord, "What have we here?"
Those prints are large and round and neat,
"But Lord, they are too big for feet."

"My child," He said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait."

"You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt."

"Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand."

Memories

I see his face
I see his smile
I see the way he looked
I see his love in his eyes

I feel his kiss
I feel the strength in his arms
I feel the connection that is ours
I feel his heartbeat against mine

I want his love
I want his desire
I want to be his toy of inspiration
I want to feel his arms locked around me

I need his lips upon mine
I need his arms crushing me to him
I need his body pressed to mine
I need to know that I complete him

I wrote this poem about twenty years ago before my first husband passed away.

Open Up Your Heart

Let it cry...
Let it smile...
Let it struggle..
Let it have feelings..

Don't judge it
Don't hide it
Don't smother it

Praise it
Welcome it
Guide it
Support its decisions

Today I Smile

I smile
I love a little too much
I live through tragedy
A tragedy that did not need to be

I smile
I weep at the loss
watching the glory pass
A tragedy that did not need to be

I smile
I tenderly remember days gone by
I remember what is
A tragedy that did not need to be

I smile
I hold my memories close
I remember who I am
A tragedy that needed to happen

Family Fun

running fingers through my hair
smiling so quietly
smelling the air
feeling the breeze on my face

hearing the kids' laughter
seeing parents' grimace
seeing the monkeys jump from vine to vine
looking at my demons

cotton candy vendors
ice cream galore
pizza slices
how can they eat that?

monkeys, bears, tigers..oh my
spiders, tarantulas, bugs...yikes
train tracks, rides, carousel...hooray
spending time with the kids...my blessing
