Magical Moments on Tuesday

”Magical

It's time for Magical Moment on Tuesday for HeartsMakeFamilies! For those of you visiting for the first time, the goal is to talk about one thing during the week that was magical to you. I mean that you were over the top about. It could be a project you completed, something your child did, a grand new idea, something you saw, etc. Something that was so magical that you have to tell us about it. I know. I know. This is why we all have blogs. But sometimes we just write about the negative things because we had a bad week. So if we all write about a Magical Moment then we might uplift another blogger. This is the very reason that I have this blog so that one day my children can see. You do not have to be a mom to do this. To join us, on Tuesday post what your Magical Moment was (add my button from the right side bar or link to me) and then be sure to stop here to link up and meet other moms at HeartsMakeFamilies to see what their Magical Moment was.

This week is hard to say what my Magical Moment was.  It was nothing specific.  It could have been the wonderful time that I had with my family on Thanksgiving.  It could be having both grandma's over the day after Thanksgiving which I'm hoping to make a new tradition.  We had both grandmas and the girls.  When I talk about the girls, I mean the two cousins that are Faith's age.  So the kids had someone to play with.  It could be going shopping with my sister-in-laws.  There were so many Magical Moments this week.  But ultimately it just all surrounds having fun with the family.

My Magical Moment was diminished this week because I am still not talking to my sister.  It was my first holiday without my sister being involved.  I miss her so very much.  So I'm counting on all of you readers to share your Magical Moment with me.

Now it is your turn. Please post about what your Magical Moment was (add my button from the right side bar or link to me) and then be sure to stop here to link up and meet other moms at HeartsMakeFamilies to see what their Magical Moment was. I can't wait to hear your stories about what your Magical Moment was.

This week my Magical Moment was with the furnace man.  NO! NO! Before you think it, I did not cheat on my husband nor would I ever think about it.  I've been married a long time now.  But you see the furnace man told me that the motor burned up in the furnace.  (OR Something like that which involved the fan.  I am so not technical.)  Anyway this meant that it was not going to cost me $3,000 to $5,000.  It was going to cost me $250.  Yes this was magical because I had no clue where I would get $3,000 to $5,000.  I was worried about my kids having a Christmas.  I was worried about the roof over my head.  So whether it is magical to most.  This was my magical moment for the week.  I think I felt the stress literally leaving my body.

Now it is your turn. Please post about what your Magical Moment was (add my button from the right side bar or link to me) and then be sure to stop here to link up and meet other moms at HeartsMakeFamilies to see what their Magical Moment was.

This week my Magical Moment was with my husband.  I've been married a long time now.  We've been married seven years and together 11 years.  I love my husband with all my heart.  I know that he loves me as well.  But we got into a rut.  You see, our lives became typical.  It was about work, kids and school.  We lost that magical connection that we always had.  I know this is true for a lot of relationships after time.  It is not that we wouldn't do whatever is necesary for the other.  It's that you forget the little things that make you who you are together.

On Friday, we went to the Newport Aquarium with Faith's class.  There were just enough parents to go that were approved by the state.  You have to have a FBI check done before you can help out with the class.  So that meant that Ken and I both got our own group of girls.  I knew ahead of time that was going to happen.  I had told the teacher to let Ken have Faith in his group since all the kids know me.  I volunteer twice a week when Jason is going through his little preschool thingy.  All morning long, Ken and I were sharing these little smiles with something that the kids were doing.  We kept our groups together even though the class divided up and went their separate ways.  We had six girls between the two of us.  Let me tell you Faith was the worst.  But then we are her parents.  She thinks she can get away with anyone when we are there.  sigh.

We got to sharks, giant turtles, dolphins, penguins, octupus, etc.  The kids were so incredibly excited when Scuba Santa made an appearance in one of the tanks as well.  It was a lot of fun.  But all things must come to an end.  Ken and I had driven down to the Aquarium.  So when the girls went back to school, I was to find out that Ken had planned on us going to Joe's Crab Shack.  It has always been one of my favorite fish places in town.

Ken insisted that we sit together in the booth on one side.  That hasn't happened since we were dating.  So here we are sitting next to each other.  Ken orders an appetizer, Garlicky Mussels.  My first thought was you want me to kiss you after you eat that?  I don't usually like garlic but this was soooo good.  So I reach for the menu.  Ken quietly pushs it away from me.  He orders the Joe's Steam Pot for two.  Oh boy, I'm thinking I'm going to be in heaven.  It comes out pipping hot in a bucket.   I do mean a bucket.  In the bucket is two kinds of crab, sausage, corn on the cob, small red potatoes, and shrimp.

We were sitting in this booth smiling and giggling at each other.  Yes my husband was giggling.  We were talking about the kids and about the aquarium.  Ken was stealing a kiss here and there.  And we were holding hands.  The waiter actually asked if we were newlyweds.  We just smiled and said that we had been married 7 years and had NO ITCH.  The waiter told us that he hoped he was like we were when he was married that long.

Being together as we are meant to be.  Loving each other simply for the little bit of time we had together.  There is no more Magical Moment between Ken and I that I would adore.  giggle  It wasn't even about sex.  Taking this time out to reconnect with my husband is one of the best things I've done in a while.

This week was an absolute twist of emotions.  On Thursday, I was crying about my problems with my sister.  That still hasn't been resolved.  I was thinking about how many things I need to write about my trip like going to the Mosi with my brothers.  I have some good pictures of that.  On Friday, I cooked my favorite Easy Layered Taco Bake which truly is for the non cook.  That's me.  Yes I admit it.  I'm not a great cook.  Oh well life will go on.  We, also, carved pumpkins and attended the school party.

On Saturday, we went trick or treating up at my sister in laws.  Faith was again the Phat Cat but I changed her face paint from the party.  Jason, if you notice, was not in this picture because he was having a temper tantrum about not getting his chocolate milk.  He couldn't have one since he has a cold.  We don't want congestion.  So he threw a fit.

Now Jason was a skeleton but his face to me looked like a robber.  I am so not crafty.   So Jason is throwing this tantrum about not taking the picture and then he doesn't want to go trick or treating.  Now this is perfectly fine with me.  I'm not going to try and get him to go while he is in this mood.  I figured he could stay behind with his daddy and uncle giving out candy.  But as typical father's who only have the fun time with the kids.  My husband says that I am just too hard on him.  He treats him like a baby and talks him into going.  I know Jason's moods so I was not going to help.  Sure enough, Jason starts coughing and going slower and slower.  Jason doesn't like to walk that much.  Unless it's something he wants.  Since he couldn't eat the candy right now, he didn't want to walk.  He even tries to convince my husband into letting him eat some.  I had to step in and stop that.

You see, Jason is great at cons.  I know that it's not his fault.  He had to learn how to do this so that he could survive.  The thing is... I've spent more time with him than anyone else.  No one else realizes he is so good at it.  My husband included.  So Ken thought that I was being hard on Jason.  Jason keeps coughing.  I start to notice that the attention he is getting from not just my husband.  He was getting attention from all of the people giving out the candy.  The girls.  My sister in law.  He starts getting louder about it.  People started feeling sorry for him.  I knew beyond a doubt that he was conning them all.  So finally my husband told me he was going to go ahead and take him back to give out candy.

We pretty much ran through the neighborhood after that.  Let me tell you my body hurt the day after.  So I get back to my sister in laws house and Jason is outside giving out candy.  Getting more attention and NOT COUGHING at all.  I quietly giggle to myself.  Yes I thought it was funny.  I know the game.  Anyway there is my husband sitting there looking at me giggling.  He gets up and comes over to me.  My husband literally hugged the stuffing out of me and said, "You are a good mother. You knew it all along didn't you?"  I simply smiled and said, "Yes".  This is a truly Magical Moment for me.  My husband acknowledge that I knew what I was doing by that simple action.  He doesn't talk much about things like that but when he does.  I have to read between the lines.

You see, I was later to find out that once they got back to the house.  Jason coughed probably 3 times according to my husband.  Jason just did not want to walk so he conned them all.  Having a moment where my husband acknowledges that I'm a good mother is so magical that I will always cherish it.

Magical Moments For Tuesday

”Magical

I have so many magical moments last week.  I'm late posting this as well.  I can't decide which moment was the most magical so I'm going to tell you about several of them.

The first would have to be the magical moments that we decided to take the kids to go to Florida.  For various reasons:

I was going to get to see my sister, Tab and her family.  I hadn't seen them for over 2 years.  I was going to be able to see my great nephew who was born in July.

Here she is.  My sister as a grandmother.  She's too young for that.  She is 41 years old.  When I'm a grandmother, I should be in my 60's.

Then there is me with my great nephew, Aiden for the first time. What a Magical Moment.

Having my kids see my sister and their cousins was wonderful.  Here is Faith with my niece, Chelsey.

And then of course the proud parents of Aiden.  My nephew, Jeremie and Annbrielle.

This had to be one of my special magic moments as well.  The first time my mom held her great grandson.  You can't tell in the picture but she had tears running down her face.

I'll go more into those details soon.

Then there was the Magical Moment of Faith's pre birthday party with my husband.  I didn't want him to feel totally left out of such a big day.  He wasn't expecting it so it was a precious moment between us.

Faith goofing off before opening her gifts.  Here she got a Hannah Montana Nightshirt.  My husband was so excited that he was able to share in the fun.  I know that it bothers him that we were leaving him.. Well kinda.  He already made fishing plans.

There were so many magical moments for me this week.  But I want to touch on one that affected both my mother and myself.  I was showing her the blog and all of your comments.  She and I were both very touched that you were commented on us being careful and having fun.  It showed me how very lucky that my life has been blessed by each and every one of you.

For those of you visiting for the first time, the goal is to talk about one thing during the week that was magical to you. I mean that you were over the top about. Magical Moments on Tuesday

It's the second Magical Moment on Tuesday for HeartsMakeFamilies! For those of you visiting for the first time, the goal is to talk about one thing during the week that was magical to you. I mean that you were over the top about. It could be a project you completed, something your child did, a grand new idea, something you saw, etc. Something that was so magical that you have to tell us about it. I know. I know. I was sitting here trying to figure out what my Magical Moment was this week.  It's been pretty tame week when I realized that my Magical Moment was my awards for the blog.  I was so incredibly honored to receive them.  In case, you don't remember I received the "Dragon's Are Loyal Award" from Amy at Keeping Up with the Schultz Family and the "One Lovely Blog Award" from Tanya at The Grab Bag.

You see, only last week I was fighting with my husband about this blog.  He thought that I was putting too much time into it.  And down deep I never believed that I was any good at writing.  Although I can say that I always wanted to write a book.  I've been journaling since I was 13 or 14.  I have poems that I am digging out to share with you.  You might not like them.

I guess the fact that this blog is almost three months old is still amazing to me.  It will be on Thursday, October 1st.  I try so hard to be positive all the time.  There isn't much that I'm not happy about in my life.  I have two wonderful kids.  I have the most wonderful husband in the world that truly does support anything I do.  I have so many wonderful people in my life.  I have material things.  Some I would rather not.  Some I'm glad of.

But this blog has been a special project for me.  Originally I was doing it simply for my kids.  So that they would have something to look back on and be able to understand that I am simply a woman trying to do the best that I can.  I want them to see who I was now.  You see, I think about the fact that I am an older mom.  I'm 44 years old now.  But when they graduate, I'll be in my 60's.  So what about when they have kids?  My mom is already going senile.  I think.  She is 66 now.  Will that happen to me?  I want to be here when they have kids and get married.  But if I'm not, I want a journal of some kind that tells my story for my grandkids as well.

Then it changed, suddenly I wanted to tell my story to everyone.  I wanted to help another person who was going through what I have.  I wanted to show someone who was going through a bad time that it could be worse.  Ok that doesn't sound right at all.  But see I believe no matter how bad it is for you that to someone else your life is better than theirs.  I, also, believe that God doesn't give you more than you can handle.  Now I have questioned that fact often.
I digest. But with this blog, I can’t believe that I have followers who like to read my stuff. It’s absolutely amazing to me. Yes, I am overly critical of what I write. But aren’t, we all? So receiving the awards and the comments from you all validated what I was doing.  It confirmed in my mind that I was doing some good.

The other day I saw something on Thetamom's blog that I totally agree with.  Sorry, Heather, I forgot to put this in here.  I am using a lot of her wording but I truly feel it in my heart as well that it is correct.

"I want to express a sincere thank you to my dear followers and readers that comment on my blog. Without you, this blog would be nothing. To all of my readers who comment, thank you! You know I give the comment love right back. Or I try to. Somebody please add hours to my day.

To my new followers, welcome to HeartsMakeFamilies! I am so glad you’re here!

And to those of you who read but don’t comment or follow, I can’t share in your blog because I don’t know you are here. Building a community is real simple to me: You follow, I follow. You comment, I comment. It's really that simple."

For the first time, I can honestly say that I think my little adventure into blogosphere might be working out. I think I found my place amongst you. I thank you all for letting me know that I belong here with you.

Now it is your turn. Please post about what your Magical Moment was (add my button from the right side bar or link to me) and then be sure to stop here to link up and meet other moms at HeartsMakeFamilies to see what their Magical Moment was.

My Magical Moment on Tuesday

I’m so excited to it's the official first Magical Moment on Tuesday for HeartsMakeFamilies! For those of you visiting for the first time, the goal is to talk about one thing during the week that was magical to you.  I mean that you were over the top about. It could be a project you completed, something your child did, a grand new idea, something you saw, etc. Something that was so magical that you have to tell us about it. I know. I know. My Magical Moment was so simple this week.  We were at my niece's 8th birthday party.  My husband reached up and held my newest niece, Gabrielle, for the first time.  He's terrified of little babies.  It is the old big man versus little baby.  Little baby always wins.
As you can see, his smile lit up half his face.  This moment was a magical moment to me but it was also bittersweet.  Now the reason that this was magical to me is that I had a flashback to the day that we brought Faith home.  Nothing ever could compete with the feeling of happiness when we had our daughter in our own house for the first time.  Nothing.

This picture is back in 2002 when Faith was 3 days old.  Next to us stands her older sister, Kerry.  Neither of us could have known at that moment just how alike they would look as they grew up.  This picture was taken at my sister's house before she moved to Florida.  We were there sharing the joy of the newest addition to our family.

I mentioned in the past that I found out about Jason being in foster care on his biological aunt's Myspace.  That was back in November 2007.  We went through 12 weeks of parenting classes to first get to see him.  I do mean to just see him.  We had FBI, criminal and background checks down.  Believe me I thought they could see up inside me by the end.  We finally got to meet Jason on Wednesday, April 2nd at McDonalds.  We were scheduled to meet the caseworker from Ohio as well as the foster mom for our first meeting.  Jason was very shy and only would smile at the foster mom.  He wanted absolutely nothing to do with me.  The meeting was three days before his third birthday.  I remember because the foster mom told me about the party they were going to have.  I wanted to be there so badly.

So it was a Magical Moment to me because it reminded me of the birth of both of my children.  It reminded me of when we were finally a family.  My dreams and prayers were finally answered.

My babies, Faith and Jason on July 19, 2008.  The first visit without a state chaperone.

Magical Moments for Tuesday

I’m so excited to officially launch Magical Moments for Tuesdays with HeartsMakeFamilies.  I've seen all these wonderful slogans:  Wordless Wednesdays, Time Out for Theta Mom, Tip Jar, etc.  The goal for Magical Moments is to talk about one thing during the week that was magical for you. This is the very reason that I have this blog so that one day my children can see how I valued my life and the things that affected me.

My magical moment of last week was simply becoming a new aunt to a gorgeous baby girl, Gabrielle.  I wasn't there for it but it was still a magical moment when I was told via text.  It made me warm inside knowing there was one more angel on the earth.  The week before it was probably that my daughter feed my dogs without asking if she needed too.  Yes it was a miracle to me.  So you can see how different they can be.

It is such a simple thing to write about.  I am simply asking you to share one of the golden moments of your lives with all of us.  To join us, on Tuesday post about your "Magical Moment" (add my button from the right side bar or link to me) and then be sure to stop here to link up and meet other Magical Moment Mommas to see what was their magical moment!

Now I am announcing it earlier so that we all have the weekend to think about it.  I think I am finally having a blast with my blog.  I'm finally feeling like this is mine.  That I can contribute to the world of blogging.  And I simply love it.

P.S. When I post it on Tuesday, I will have a mcklinky link for us all.
