I Follow...Do You?

I stopped over at Mom's Online Garage Sale and found this post.  It was such an important issue that I decided to share it with you all.

Almost all blog platforms by default are set up so that a "dead end" piece of code is inserted wherever there is a link in a comment, so that search engines will not "count" the link as they are crawling the internet.  This was originally designed to help stop comment spam, but it doesn't work.  What it does is remove some of the incentive for your readers to contribute to your site by commenting on your posts.

What can you do about it?  Turn off "nofollow".  Show your commenters that you appreciate them.  Spread the link love.

Go to Randa Clay Design to download your "I Follow" Logo and see detailed instructions for turning off No Follow today.

I had no idea about this "no follow" thing. Also, just wanted to say thanks for the thoughtful comments on my blog and for following. Have great day!

I am going to do that right now. I am not quite sure what it is, but I'm going to do it anyway!

Very helpful. I am a little hesitant to change the code, but I think I can manage it.

Thanks for the excellent tip!

Thanks for the useful information!

@Chef Eureka - It wasn't as hard as I thought to use the code. I'm actually terrified to use code. I am so non-techy.

@Nancy@ifevolutionworks.com - So glad to help.

Yay! I love followers and I love following. I don't just follow so I can get them in return. I actually like my little blogroll I have going of others' posts so I can read them and see what's going on in other parents' worlds. It does bug me at times, a little, that I've followed so many of them, and commented many times, and they don't show me the same. I think it's rude at times, although I know I'm still a nobody-blogger and they're in the big BIG leagues :) So, thanks for thinking about the little people, and bringing it to our attention!! PS, I'm now following you too, I like what you have to say.

@DakerMom - Welcome to my blog! Hi there. I'm so happy to meet you. I love followers too and I love to follow. I love finding out what others are doing. Absolutely adore it. I love seeing what others do to their blogs. I love knowing that I'm not the only one out there in this world. That I'm just as imperfect as everyone else. I agree I've commented on way more than comment back on mine but they are just missing something in my eyes. I'm still a little people so thats who I have to look out for. I'm going to check out your blog today as well. Awww thank you. Be sure to stop in tomorrow for the Magical Moments on Tuesdays.

Nice to meet you. Tami
